Quick polish & reflection try to see how flat it's looking. Still got to wait longer for sinking. I'm aiming for near-flat with perhaps a very tiny bit of grain show-through. And wanting it quite thin so takes time to lay a coat, wait, sand etc. It would be easy to hose on loads and sand flat later but don't wanna do that. There's no sanding sealer either.
I have however messed up, must have use the wrong first-clean thinners and got some metallic sparkle in the headstock.. it only shows in strong light. Not sure whether to leave it or do the head over from scratch.
'First-clean' thinners, don't know what else to call it, I save used thinners that's not too dirty into used thinners containers. Use that for first round gun cleaning, it saves going through tons of gunwash. One for clear & flat colour, one for metallics. May've picked up the wrong one. Anglo saxon incantatations were duly spoken.

The body looks amazing already. ( the guitar that is.....).
Been trying out new sanding & polishing machine and new system & materials, using this as a guinea pig. Ended up with something far quicker that what I used to do and less hard on the hands, so was worth the time spent
Then someone damaged it, lost a lot of time repairing, waiting for sinking, and always having the different sinkage rates of the new vs the older clear, so was never going to win. So sanded it and recoated in the end.
Quite happy with the board, it darkens nicely with lemon oil. Slightly less happy with the Faber tailpiece, it fits and works, but one post slot is tight - although pretty handy for keeping it from falling off.
Also the tuner bushings from WD Music, one was smaller than the rest... luckily I had another set of them.
It's fairly flat on the back but the top coats are moving a bit still, and it's got knots and had small holes etc so not mirror flat. The back'll prob shrink a bit over time and show a bit of grain through. Tried a stage less shiney on back but that gives a slightly milky cloudy look on the dark colour so it's ended up fairly shiney.
So just about done, got the control covers made and a temporary top nut on mainly so I can hear the Mojo P90's. So nice. Clear & harmonically rich, all that. I'm awaiting for a poker chip and other bits which I hope is nearer the ivory pickup cover colour, than the creamy yellow temp one on there.
