Fender HSS customshop - how much????

So browsing the guitar guitar website and absolutely love this:

But........ £4k!!!!!!! And its master builder designed, not master built.

And would be better with a big headstock and an original Floyd Rose. :-)

I'm afraid with new prices for 2020 then CS below £3500 won't happen - Above that will depend on what extras from the menu are added to the package

My £2.5k CS purchase in 2013 seems like such a bargain now!

My CS hardtail Strat was £2.7k in 2016.  They really have gone up a lot the last few years.

Seriously, not looking at selling mine, it's such a special Strat, just looking for that warm glow!

Nice as they are, I do think the fender custom shop stuff has crossed a price point where I just no longer think they're worth it.

I'm with you on this. I'm in the very fortunate position and at that point in my life that if I really wanted this I could make it work. I am indeed the target market for this.

But this is just a step past even a one off luxury purchase for me.

Others may feel differently!

The CS stuff does seem expensive but I guess that Fender will charge what the market will stand.  Nobody has to buy one, you can buy a nice USA production line Fender for a lot less money. Players who really want a CS model will find the cash, good luck to them, there are a lot more stupid things to spend money on.

certainly has - common now to see good used examples from 2.5k to 2K

That’s just mental for a mass produced bolt together guitar with some template relicing. Master builder designed is such a load of balls - they picked a neck profile and some pickups and it’s now worth 4K? 

I get the charging of what the market will stand but it seems ludicrous. To my mind, they’ve stopped being about the best guitars that fender can make and simply a cash cow. Expensive and exclusive for the sake of it which makes them more vulgar than desirable. Such a shame.

Arguably the market won't bear it, even before the virus. Guitarguitar have heavily discounted all of their master design Fenders to date.

To be honest if I was going to be spending 2-3 grand on a Strat I can't think of anything I'd consider over a Fender CS except maaaaybe (but probably not) a Silver Sky.

Just can't think of a reason to go for any other brand or what advantage they could have.

I’ve ordered a Feline built to my exact spec for less money. I’d sooner do that now. Which reminds me I’d better bung him some cash this week! Ha ha!

I’d agree that prices have gone nuts, especially in the last 18 months, but fender are still shifting them and still have a 6 month minimum wait for a custom order and anything from 1-4 years for a 7k master built.
I said a firm “no” to a custom order I was quoted £5200 for, which was team built. Fender do need to be careful as I’m definitely their target market and they’re just getting too expensive for me to consider new.
