He did build a few a couple of times with replacement necks, such as MIJ fender necks. But for the most part they're built from scratch.

The relicing is hideous but they sound fantastic. Hard to tell apart from the real thing.

Apologies if the links not properly embedded.
Bravewoods have the most realistic feel to play of any distressed finish guitar in my opinion.
In particular, the back of the neck is superb. None of the ill-judged belt-sander effect you see on many Fender CS instruments. My Strat is quite early and I think the ageing is very good. It is fabulous to play, sounds sublime and I can’t bring myself to sell it, although I am moving towards vintage only.
The Jazz Bass is from 2013, built to order. The one piece maple neck had great “wear” the body a bit less convincing. It was heavier than I wanted, never bonded so sold it last year. For what I paid.
Some lovely guitars posted earlier chaps.

With hindsight i would have specced less aging, but i really was after that Frusciante thing which he nailed.

The neck is unbelievably good. I specced a big chunky neck and it is absolutely stonking.

It's taken me a few days but here are mine.  First up is a 66 bound neck Strat in Blue Ice metallic.  This guitar was floating around the room after hurricane Sandy, so some of the wear is from that!

Next is the 64 Fiesta Red with a bridge humbucker.  There are a lot of original parts on this guitar, including the bridge and sctarchplate.  I also have a period correct Selmer case for it:

Next is the 57 Sunburst.  I asked for the wear pattern on the body and neck, just in case you don't like it.

Last of the Strats is a 57 hardtail.  Both of the 57's have a very pronounced V neck, which is based on my 57 that I lent John to copy.  This is a gently aged closet classic finish.

  • @PhilKing - they are all stunning. Love the fiesta Red with the dark rosewood board.

The next ones are the basses, first the 57 Precision in Shell Pink (based on a NAMM model):

And the 62 Burgundy Mist Jazz bass.

Thanks, that was the first one that I got from him.  I was getting one a year for a while when he used to be in Redruth.

I used to be quite against relics, but that strat was the one that convinced me I might be wrong.

I agree with some they the heavy relics can look over done.... But the more subtle ones like that really do it for me.
