    Happy birthday Peter.

I hope he never dies as I won't be able to bear all the "Frampton Comes Alive" jokes.

Highs have to be Rocking the Fillmore and Comes Alive... but he was also involved in that awful Sgt Pepper thing in the 70s.

Natural Born Bugie on repeat now!

Went to the OGWT recording at Hemel Hempstead Pavillions , Frampton played 5 songs then the show was over. We then went down to a local pub which had John Otway and Wild Willy Barret on, what a great night!

Frampton has a special place in my guitar universe because he was on the cover of the first issue of Guitar Player I bought, November 1981.

In those days, and for some years afterwards, I would read it from cover to cover and often bought albums by the featured artists, even the ones who played musical styles I wasn't at all into.

    Happy birthday Mr Frampton!

That song was written by Barry Gibb ( Wiki says the Bee Gees played it live although they never recorded it). Other guitarist on it apparently George Terry who played with the Bee Gees, Abba, Eric Clapton, Diana Ross... amazing CV.

Anyway, happy birthday Peter. Seems a nice bloke in interviews.

I saw him playing guitar for David Bowie many years ago,( possibly Glass Spider tour ? ) A great player, who knows how to play for the song with fabulous phrasing and harmonic sense. Long may he continue

I acquired this 76 LPC some years ago, with the cream parts and speed knobs. I assume that the original owner was a fan. I decided to leave it as it is as a reminder of the time around Frampton Comes Alive.

I think that's one of the best Les Paul looks, it works really well.  Funny how the gold speed knobs make such a difference, if they were bell knobs, or another colour, it just wouldn't look right.

It's a look I like too. It reminds me a lot of of those days looking at the Frampton Comes Alive sleeve shots, and also Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous" album photos where Brian Robertson had his two pick up Custom similarly kitted out.Oh the days when you couldn't just google a thousand photos of any guitar  :)

I did try putting it back to original spec with correct black parts and original control knobs, but decided I liked it better as it came to me. It somehow puts the guitar right in the era it was made. The original T tops sound fantastic, but it is one very heavy LP.

Loved Frampton Comes Alive. One of the most interesting rock players - certainly not just pentatonics.

I went to the 35th anniversary Comes Alive concert at the Bridgewater Hall, front row. A brilliant gig and he issued recordings of the night on CD.

Ditto but in Hammersmith. Met him for 5 mins after the gig...what a lovely guy.  His son was playing with him too. He started off with some early Herd and Pie stuff, then did the whole FCA in the album order, and then some of his later stuff.  Fabulous player and flawless gig. What a treat!!
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

There's an interview with him in this month's Mojo in which he says that he met David Bowie at school and was lifelong friends with him. He said that Bowie invited him to play on that tour because of having had his millions from Frampton Comes Alive stolen by his management, to give him a leg up to starting again.

He comes across as a nice bloke in that interview, too.

    Cracking fella.

Was due to see him at the RAH next month on his farewell tour - but it's now been cancelled for obvious reasons :(
