Could you use this for neck profiling?

What's Hot
So you have a neck profile you love and want to replicate it on another neck. Would this work?

Yes.  You can use it for taking a copy of the contour at specific frets.

You can then use the facet method of neck carving to duplicate it.

You can also make thicker templates for checking the carve as you go

You can get fine metal ones too, but tape the neck before using it

You can get smaller ones, with thinner sections, which give a better level of precision. I used one last week to compare neck profiles of several different guitars

I have a metal one approx. 4" wide with small pins. The pins are nice and stiff meaning it holds the profile when you move it around. I took some measuremnts of a neck I was copying at 1st fret, 5th fret, etc etc and then traced them onto an offcut of wood, cutting them out and essentially making a neck profile gauge.

I got a cheapo from toolstation the other day. Not refined enough really, but gives you a rough idea. Had I known about crimson I would have gone for that one..
