I loved the Empire Records soundtrack as a teenager, makes me feel nostalgic (and old) now.

More recently I liked the songs in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

The Return Of The Living Dead. Played it to death during my late teenage years.

    Laugh, love, live, learn.

My favourite soundtracks aren't from film but from TV series. For example Peaky Blinders, but I guess that should be the subject of a separate thread.
    It's not a competition.

For songs rather than original music have we had Grosse Point Blank?
It has occurred to me that if I ever did another covers band it could just cover songs from that film. The Grosse Point Band!

Not sure about Grease but agree on The Blues Bros and Commitments - Not seen Commitments for ages so might well watch it again this week

Forbidden Planet- No soundtrack at all, but a 'soundscape' done with whatever tech they had in the 50s.

I was about to say the first recorded use of electric bass but that’s rubbish, that’s on the soundtrack to The Day the Earth Stood Still. Just listening to bits of it - the mix of traditional and electronic instruments quite amazing for 1951.
There’s something really hypnotic about the soundtrack on Forbidden Planet. I’ve never yet been able to watch it all the way through, I always fall asleep!

Back on topic, Paris Texas has a great soundtrack.

Dead Man. Watched it last night; a striking film, not least because Neil Young stretches one and a half delay and reverb saturated riffs over the entire film.

I reckon Lethal Weapon deserves an honourable mention for Eric Clapton's noodling over the entire film, too.

I love it too, enough that I bought the LP... only to discover that the theme doesn’t appear on the soundtrack lp.

Rush* has a similar Clapton noodling soundtrack

(*the cops and drugs one from '91, not Hunt v Lauder)

As I am watching the series at the moment and there seems to be a focus on mostly English speaking stuff I will nominate Das Boot and the score by Kraftwerk.

It was actually Matthias Weber not Kraftwerk.

The original film was scored by Klaus Doldinger who was the main guy in a band called Passport. I picked up a load of their albums cheap in the 80s. They can be a bit middle of the road but there a few gems. One called Ocean Liner has got some good tracks on it, although Das Boot was one of his best bits of work.

I went to see Jaws in concert last year. It was superb. All those powerful strings and good acoustics made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

If you ever get the chance do it.

Baby Driver, because the way the action is synchronised with the songs on the soundtrack is very clever.

Neat, neat, neat too. Bloody great.

Not a film as such, but a couple of years ago there was a documentary on Netflix called Wind Fall.  It used the Hazmat Modine album Bahamut as the soundtrack.  It worked really well.  The documentary was really good too.
