NGD - My take on a blue flower thinline

edited August 2020 in Guitar tFB Trader

Just thought I'd bob a quick post off to show my latest build - I've been a partscaster man so far, this is the first body I've built entirely from scratch and I think it turned out pretty well. Finishing could be a little better in places, and the neck pocket is slightly too large, but it all seems to work. Still not ready to take the challenge of making a neck yet though!

I couldn't find a hi-res image of the original blue flower pattern, so I've vectorised and re-coloured an alternative, which, now I look at it, I think looks nicer than the Fender pattern.

I'll probably do a build thread at some point- I have pictures of the whole build process, but I'll leave these pics for now

    I'm not really a fan of Paisley guitars but that's much more interesting IMO.
    I'm now wondering what other patterns/colours would work  =)

    Really like that, especially the way the flowers are larger and more vivid in colour than a typical paisley - great job!

    It's a clear vinyl I printed which is laid over a silver basecoat

  • Looks lovely, are the yellowy bits part of the ageing you do? I don't love that, but it does look like an old dirty guitar!

    The paisley looks great, nice pattern and colours!

  • This is one of the coolest guitars I've ever seen.  Love the art.  Super cool.  This might sound ridiculous but I've always wanted a William Morris print guitar...and I have a guitar that needs a refinish.  Might this kind of thing be doable @4114Effects ;

    Don't see why not! I could print the pattern for you no problem.

    Yeah, that's a really excellent build - I love a thinline.

    But it's definitely NOT paisley is it?!

    You printed the vinyl yourself? I'd be interested to know the process -what sort of printer and vinyl etc.

    I work at a local printing firm for my "real" job. It's printed thin on self-adhesive clear vinyl on a large roll so size isn't a limitation. I'll do a little build guide for this tele at some point soon - I have pics of the whole process :)
