i wonder if the pickups are PAFs
Back in 1974 nobody had heard of a portable electric router and parts were very hard to come by. I travelled from N Wales to Manchester on the train to buy my fretwire.

The first time I made a tailpiece like the above from SS plate (thank you Hawker Siddeley) and the wooden block bridge with fretwire saddle as per the instructions.
Next was a Telecaster style plate with three adjustable bar saddles made I think from Meccano.
Finally it got a tunomatic (from my Avon Les Paul copy) and through body string anchoring.
The original pickguard was also stainless steel, from the same source, and I wound two bar magnet pickups housed in clear plastic boxes. The pickups were poor though and I managed to get a pair from a mail order catalogue so made a new 'guard from sign-makers 3-ply bakelite, the same stuff that Burns used in the 60s.
