Any Ed O'Brien fans on here?

I'm asking as I have the opportunity to interview him in the near future and so I thought if anyone has any cool questions for him, then maybe I could ask him for you.

If anyone has any guitar/gear related questions (sensible ones) then I could maybe squeeze a few into my interviews with him.

Anyway, leave your questions here and I'll try to get them answered.

  • When he uses his signature Strat, is it a standard off the shelf Mexican or a fancy custom shop version made just for him?

Seriously though that's amazing. I'd probably wet myself with excitement if I met a member of Radiohead

My little brother works with Ed and does all his radio promotion, so I have a nice way to talk to him. Just trying to get the guy some decent questions, as I'm sure he gets bored of the dull ones.

So as you lot are gear heads, I figured I'd ask you for some good ones

    Maybe a question about composition?

How he approaches creation of song parts, when

    a) he comes up with a new idea and brings it to the band.
    b) when someone from the band comes in with an idea and there's some on the spot pressure to put a guitar part on that idea.

You can also ask him why Thom has become such a hipster lately?

I’m a fan of Ed O Brien. Less so of modern Radiohead. I sort of think the Atoms For Peace album was stronger. They strike me as a band where the lead singer has too much power.

I’d ask him if he’s ever bored with post 2000 Radiohead? Hasn’t all the bleeping and rhythmic stuff run its course? Perhaps the most adventurous thing they could do is pick up guitars again?

Then Id ask why he doesn’t do any soundtrack work as I loved his collaboration on the BBC TV series Eurika Street?

Which guitar-centric music really inspires him?

Does he have an appreciation for classic rock?

Does he ever sit around and play blues licks?

He'd come across as unbelievablely rude if he asked him this.

I'd ask him whether he ever listens to Jonny playing and thinks 'fuck, I'm way out of my depth here'...

I have one genuinely nerdy question about his guitar which is the EOB Strat is the only regular production model with a 10/56 neck profile. How did he decide upon that?

We all know him and Jonny are fx pedal fanatics but what would be his desert island fx pedals? Which five pedals would he take and why?

    This would be my question.

Also - quite seriously - does he ever put AC/DC on really loudly and play along, like basically everyone else?

Will they ever invite Charlie and Lizzie back to play with them? That’d be cool.

    I like that!

And on the flip-side what is his guilty pleasure that he dances around the living room to and hopes the rest of the band don’t find out about?
