Carrying on the car themed threads, I thought a dream car thread would be a good idea. Post as many as you like. I'll start off

I've started to think my dream car would be a Tesla Model S or some other futuristic electric car. It'll be interesting to see what folks are driving when my little kids are old enough to get their license.

The ideal car for where I live would be small, great handling but with a suspension that could cope with country roads. It would favour torque and lower-end acceleration over top speed. And if I could plug it in every evening that would be ideal. I don't think that car quite exists yet - but I suppose it would be an electric hot hatch.

My dream cas has been a Lamborghini Gallardo for a long time now, or if such a thing existed a reliable Lotus Esprit V8. But I'm coming to the conclusion the best fast car I could own would be one with speed I could use. So the 0-60 is much more important than anything it could do over 80 mph.

When I was (a lot) younger, it was a Countach...

Nowadays, it's more likely to be the Vanquish...

But, if I had enough money for one of those, I rather get one of these...

Aston Martin Vanquish - it has to be bright blue. One of the best looking cars ever made, gorgeous from every angle.

The Eagle Low Drag GT - because they've somehow managed to actually improve the styling of the Jaguar E-Type.

A Nissan GT-R, because everything I've ever heard reviewers say about them implies that they are pretty much the king of all sports cars. I love uber-technical Japanese stuff, and this is pretty much the ultimate expression of that. Mine would have to look like this.

Similar theme to the Eagle - this is a Singer 911, which I think is an 80s 911 underneath, but with 70s body panels... and 90s or 2000s running gear, so it's basically a beautiful old Porsche that goes, stops and steers like a new one. Perfect.

Not sure. I think there were some other reasons too but I imagine I probably had something to do with it.

As for stuff that I might have a slightly greater chance of owning or even driving one day...

VW Golf R - practical, not ridiculously expensive, good for carrying gear, 35-ish mpg... and 300 bhp with 0-60 in five seconds:

While ordinarily the answer would be yes, something about that electric blue looks better. Best colour for that car by a mile.

Countach LP500S in red with cream leather interior. Recently, one sold for more than double it's auction estimate at £330,000.

Which means I'm unlikely to ever afford one, unless Mrs C wins the lottery, or I put her back on the street.

Remember though - the VW golf figures about 0-60mph in less than 5 seconds are not quite true.

It doesn't quite take into account how long that car stays at 0mph, due to something in the engine having died a horrible death (or possibly the gearbox falling off again).

So it's more real to say it's got a 0-60mph of 3 weeks and £2,000.

Then when you hit 60 you go through the entire process all over again. Only this time the window has fallen out too.
