£3000 to spend on a new acoustic, whaddya got?

Having sold off a couple of older electrics I'm in the market for a nice new acoustic. No massive necks, as I don't play a huge amount of fingerstyle these days. I'd value playability almost as much (if not more) than the sound quality. My only other requirement is that I don't want anything with electronics unless they are discreet. Body size, I'm up for dred, OM or Auditorium. Nothing smaller than OM though please. I live in the South East so either postage or a meetup will be required!

The only way to know a neck is to play the guitar! Or, get a slim neck Taylor guitar (or similar).  Most electric guitarists prefer the Taylor type neck for its slimness! 

You are welcome to try my Taylor 710 L9 shortscale. It is not for sale. You can also try 2 other guitar necks that are thicker too, Tacoma and Yamaha.

We can eve try it outside my house in the laneway flto allow for Covid restrictions. 

I'm in SE London if travel distance allows.

That’s really kind of you, I may take you up on that offer! I completely agree as well. That’s what always attracted me to Taylor’s (the playability). There’s a really lovely 912ce for sale on Reverb, but unfortunately it’s a 12 fretter which doesn’t appeal as much.

Happy to help. The three guitar I have are a good mix of neck types. The Taylor thin electric-almost guitar neck, a compound neck with medium thickness neck and a full C thicker neck . Hopefully it will give you the best idea of how they work for you.

And, 2 are short scale and 1 is normal scale with a variety of 12s or 13s strings. The shortscale really helps soften the stings on the fingertips.

Would recommend trying a Brook if you want an almost electric playable slim neck...

Hey @Birdbrother I’ve got a Martin D41 from 2001 in incredible condition for it’s age with a LR Baggs Anthem SL pickup installed too. If you can go a tiny bit higher than the 3k budget then she’s all yours. It’s a beautiful looking and, most importantly, sounding guitar. Should also add that the setup on the D41 is great too, so it plays incredibly well.
