The CP Strats may have that thin skin finish, but unless they've changed something recently, Baja Teles don't - here's the evidence.

That may explain why the Baja I played at the weekend had a sticky neck and was a bit heavy... That guy got real lucky with the nice grain on that one he did a fine job.

    Er......................we need to talk !

I have a mint condition, Blonde, 3 month old Baja exactly like that one that I would love you to do that to for me?

That looks stunning and probably sounds loads better.

That's not me, it's @juansolo, although I have been tempted to do the same to my Classic 50s Tele (I even have the same hairdryer!)

I hadn't seen that before, I suspect he was lucky with the wood. I have an image of someone playing a really hot and sweaty gig with a Baja and all the finish melting off!

This answers most of a gas induced attack I had last year.

Faded Sonic Blue.......actually wanted Lake Placid Blue
    Rosewood Board

......but lacks the soft V neck of my original run Baja.

    Ok no problem.

My Telecaster is going to @FelineGuitars this weekend. I will ask Jonathan to look at that and see if he can do while he's got the body stripped for it's rewire.

Thanks all the same for posting it, that looks stunning.

Ok - not sure how Juansolo made such easy work of it

Having spent 3 hours - I firstly had the acrylic colourcoat and topcoat off - no way it was coming off as a singlepiece sadly
Then I had to get through the polyester basecoat - heatgun and cabinet scraper to the fore again.

But finally we are down to bare wood - qite handsome to be fair , although one of the body joins looks like it could do with a little glue bleeding into it to be sure - think it was hidden under all the plastic.

Will try to get it sanded up tomorrow as well so the long oiling process can begin

I didn't weigh the finish - most of it went into the hoover, but it was probably 1/2 pound - at least.

It's was still a 2 man job, maybe that's what made it easier... Cleggy went at a section with the hairdryer and as it heated up I gently parted it with the pancake flipper. Once we got the technique down we were able to get the back off in one chunk ;) Had to use a butter knife around the edges though...

All the right tools and all that ;)

I did a LOT of sanding after that... I reckon I spent 10 hrs on the full oil re-finish all up.

I wonder if we will see some fairly lightweight ones. (60's Baja)
Some of the Roadworn Teles were 7lb ish, and I believe they were Alder bodies?
