I quite like the album for the most part. I have to agree with "Why You No Love Me" though. Utter shite lyrically.

I do like the over-the-top 80s vibe of some of the songs. It's like listening to some of my parents records, the synth lines are nice and the guitar work and is great throughout.

Big fan all in all. I'd rather listen to this than half of the shite put out by the so-called "virtuosos" that people cream their pants over.

As mentioned above, some nice sounds and a strong 80's vibe, but a bit 'beige' in parts and some clear filler.

Til the right one comes - intro and chorus is a Tom Petty rip off with a basic, new country verse stuck in for good measure.

I do think it’s pretty self-defeating for Mayer. He’s said on a few occasions that he doesn’t get invited to the Grammys these days (unless as guitar side man) let alone win any. Let’s face it, this isn’t going to be anyone’s favourite album ever (Born and Raised is probably in my top 20), it’s almost like by turning the joke on him he’s reduced expectations and pressure.

Or maybe I’m overthinking it. Album has some nice moments, but also plenty of cringe.

Loved the single and was really looking forward to it. Last train home is head and shoulders above the rest of it imo

It was perfectly acceptable music to work to this afternoon and I’ll give it a few plays as I don’t judge on first listen*

*Except my judgement of the lyric “why you no love me” which I will think is wank forever.
