  • Dont forget however, the meter isnt peak (or shouldnt be).  Its over 95 for a period.  3 seconds is quite usual.

Now, loud cheering will go on longer  a snare hit wont.

    What about blast beats?

  • my function band has done a load of these..

    Prepare to not have fun.

Prepare for there to be no bass, and the vibe be dreadful.

The only way limiter gigs are tolerable (for the band at least) are with electric kit and nice in ears.

Don't expect the crowd to get into it even if you don't set off the limiter

If you do set it off, it'll kill the flow of the set and possibly blow a fuse in your gear.

Be prepared to not engage at all with the crowd and spend the whole set starting intensely at the christmas tree of warning lights as it jumps up to the red every time a chorus comes around or the bass play hits any note lower than 10th fret D.

hopefully your fee is good, smile at the clients and get out fast.

  • also, every single limiter system measures differently - theres no standard - we've played 2 subs 2 tops, proper kit at a supposed "92db" and been fine, we've also done a 98db that cut out on one snare hit, so good luck I guess!
