I also seem to remember that at the time one of the guitarist crew had just had a fender custom shop commissioned and reviewed which, iirc,  was a reverse jag shape with sparkly finish and strat trem - but i think it had a mix of pickups in it.  a few months later the supersonic came out

I'll dig out the mag over the weekend pretty sure that was new price as the jagstang had just come out in that issue to for £348 but my memory's terrible.

Please do, i can't find any old reviews of it now.     I do remember it being a massive drop in price, or i never would have got one
