I'm torn because I've always disliked this guy's playing, but I also got over the whole make a thread to poke fun at someone else's playing thing when I was about 16...

    Funny - no.
Ideal for that moment - no, but then we have no information as to what was going on, there may have been a reason.

Alex Hutchings is an amazing guitarist, not quite sure what that was all about. Just go and watch his "I feel fine' video for some exquisite touch and feel playing.

So, I just checked the source and Alex posted that video himself!

    Here's his words/explanation:

The MOST inappropriate Guitar Solo at a Blues Gig?

Feel free to share your juxtapositions below. e.g. Bassist: Incensed Guitarist: Impassioned. etc etc. This clip really cracks me up, I honestly don't know what came over me on this night. It's like I was possessed by the Shred Devils

Person makes thread to spitefully make fun of man's video that the man posted to make fun of himself in the first place. Not a great look.

Having checked back (and been reminded by comments here), it's fairly clear that it's someone demonstrating some light-hearted self-mockery and self-awareness. The world could do with more of that, sometimes ...

  • It looks tongue in cheek.  I didn't enjoy the music personally but if he likes making music like this and some people like hearing it that's as valid as it needs to be.

It made me laugh. And I sort of enjoyed it. I actually wish I could play like that too. I'm not convinced that the OP was being snide about it either, not really.

That video posted back in Oct '21 has now had 333,000 views on youtube.

So going on a conservative estimate (£3 per 1000 views?) its earnt him just shy of a thousand quid.
All for just goofing off for 3 minutes at a pub gig.

Like I said before, whatever he's doing - it's working for him...

Damn, I’ve had millions of views for aome of my videos and not received a sausage. Are you sure it’s £3 per 1000? That seems rather a lot!

yep - you're right ... incorrect google search engine usage on my part!

"The most important thing that one needs to know is Youtube doesn’t pay money for the views on videos , instead it pays for the views and clicks on the ads that youtube shows while playing videos."

so indeed - not likely to be a thousand notes... it depends on how likely your average guitarist is going to be interested in funeral plans or whatever they're flogging halfway thru the vid !!!  =)

    It's Alex Hutchins
He's on a par with Govan and recognised as a top Jazz Guitarist .
He's doing it on purpose to piss around for a joke
If you look at some of his performance vids/tutorials /clinicsand work as a demonstrator for Boss/Roland etc you will see that he is extremely musical

I've seen him play with steve wilson, he's very talented and can dial it back when required. Obviously he got a little carried away here after probably having one-too-many pints.
