3. Main ambition? - to be able to keep playing as I near my second century.

4. Best bit of gear ? Mm, difficult to say. Probably my 1998 Collings dread.

I came on here to use the classifieds (I know, sorry) but now im here, I'm staying. looks very busy on here, and its nice that its UK orientated. Ive been playing on and off (far more off than on) for 20 years or so, and have recently got back into it. Ive been buying guitars like a mad man for the last year or so. Ive gone from 3, to about 10 in a year! although some of them are projects in progress.

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

Well, my name is Jim (James) and Sherwood Green is the best colour ever so...

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

I'm in the UK.  East Sussex to be precise.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

I repair and build guitars part-time.  I'd like to make it full time.  If that isn't musical enough: I've been on rhythm guitar for years; it would be nice to focus on lead more.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

My wife bought me a mandolin that I treasure (but rarely play!), but I just bought a 65 Jazzmaster, so that might take the prize now.

This Q led me to spend a couple of hours trawling through my music.  I've tried to answer this one before and failed miserably, so I'm just gonna pick one I love: Dean Carter's version of Jailhouse Rock.  It's insane.

Hi to all,

Q1:  My username Fastfreddy….because I used to follow motorcycle racing and liked an American racer called fast Freddy Spencer. 

Q2:  I'm located in the northwest of England in Lancashire which makes me a right typical northern bloke...sarcastic quirky and many other things besides!

Q3:  My musical ambition is to annoy the neighbours….life is loud and when it’s not loud enough then it will be probably time to pass my guitars over to my kids to continue the job.

Q4:  My best bit of gear….right now it would have to be a Gibson Les Paul Standard Limited Edition in a funny midnight blue colour. Not the best guitar I've ever owned though....

Q5:  My #1 track ? This changes too….but at this moment I love a particular version of Bucketheads ‘Soothsayer’ track.

I live on the Coconut Coast of the UK where the girls wear grass skirts and the sounds of Hawaii drift across the bay on the zephyrs  (more commonly known as the Fylde in Lancashire)

Tricky, I have many great guitars but I guess the one I pick up most is my home made Strat. (I didn't carve the wood or anything, but it's a Partscaster)

Just realized I've been hanging out here for a while and never introduced myself.

Although I've always twiddled around on guitar, I'd never practiced much or been in a band. When I retired a couple of years ago I started playing regularly with a drummer and bassist - blues/rock and a bit of funk. Played in public for the first time at a local arts centre recently - which was scary but enjoyable. My only musical ambition is to keep doing stuff that I didn't think I could do - which is both fun and satisfying.

Black Strat I built (inspired by David Gilmour's, but not an exact copy).

Comfortably Numb, for reminding me that great guitar solos don't need to be played at 100 mph, but do need to be melodic.

Q3: To try and get back into playing at all!

Q4: A USA Telecaster in a custom red with cream binding bought in 2008 as my first truly serious guitar (and only really serious guitar!!).
