The winner of our last challenge @flying_pie ;;has spoken and chosen our track for the letter J

That's right. I know the date is 01 April but it's the afternoon now so it's not an April fool. If that's not your bag, and let's face it it's unlikely that you''ve been desperately waiting for American-Irish East Coast 90s Hip-Hop for a guitar-based cover, then you can record any track starting with the letter J

But… if you cover the chosen track you will automatically receive a bonus 5pts as a head start

Please comment in the thread when you've sent an entry. And feel free to submit more than one entry if you want.

You may wish to submit artwork to go with your entry. It brightens up the playlist and might subliminally get you more votes but it's not mandatory. 

Entries close at 11.30pm on Friday  23rd June 2023... get onto it!!!!

I'm not attempting the official track, however my own choice could be even more controversial.

I'll be honest.

It wasn't my idea. I was going to choose Jambalaya by the Carpenters because I utterly hate that song and would have encouraged you all to destroy it for good. I would encourage you to still do that but for no bonus point.

Mrs Pie actually suggested Jump Around and I thought that was a great idea so I think I'll do it. I expect to get at best a sympathy point from @Bezzer at for what I have in mind.

@Bezzer let's just say that I shall use a Boss Metal Zone in the signal chain. Even though I don't need to,  and it's not technically the correct pedal to use, it will just feel right...

I'll also go out on a limb and say that I reckon @thecolourbox won't do the same style

I've sent in an entry for this one.  It's not entirely serious, but I got to work on my piano playing a bit, and also got to use my "lap steel", which was nice.

Sent mine in. Unfortunately, the Tonex plugin and Logic Pro decided not to get along any more so there are a few glitches and noise in the recording not to mention the absolute crazy latency which was introduced after a few tracks were recorded.

It also meant that I could not record any more as it kept crashing down so the vocals are pretty much a first attempt thing.

Anyway, I've decided to send it as there is not much I can do to improve poor vocals, no matter how much eq I do.

As for the song, I know it's a cliché but 1) there aren't many songs starting with J that inspired me and 2) this is a special song for me as it brings really nice memories from my teens. And it's a great song.

I tried to move away as much as I could from the original but I always end up doing a pretty much straight cover, I suppose I lack the imagination and creativity. But I had fun in spite of all the frustration with the Tonex (but that's a matter for another thread).

Annoying I couldn't think of a cover for the letter "I" but I've just done one for another purpose and now I can't think of a "J" one.

So if I can enter a belated "I" track I'm in...
