Keyboard MIDI in out through help

Hi...My Nord communicates with my TC Helicon vocoder via midi. Works just fine and as it should.

I'm now using the Nord as a controller for my Korg Opsix. Again, works as expected.

But now I want to use all 3, Nord => Opsix => TC Helicon

Opsix has only MIDI in and out, and the chain above isn't working. The Vocoder isn't harmonising with the Nord chords I play.

All the Receive and Transport are on on the Opsix. I'm assuming info needed by the TC H is not getting through the Opsix.

What do I need? Do I need some sort of MIDI patchbay type thing? Or am I missing something obvious in the set-up?

You need more midi thru’s.
I can’t track down the tc helicon model you quote but suspect it just has midi in ?

Then your nord will send midi to the Kenton box which will duplicate it and allow you to have thru 1 to the helicon an£ thru 2 to the opsix

Yup just MIDI in on the TC Helicon Performance VE.

That's really helpful. Will that Kenton thru allow me to hook up 4 eg synths and control all the same?

The Kenton was just an example - there wil be more of these old midi router things on ebay as it is a “old school” way of doing things these days ( old school doesn’t necessarily mean bad !

Back in the day , keyboards all had midi in,out and thru so you could chain them up all day long

Dont supposé you know, do they all need power? Or, another way, is the one that doesnt?

Mostly powered I’m afraid unless you can find an old Philip Rees unit like this one .

If you take a quick look at the sellers notes he’s trying to power the unit from the “source” in your case the nord - personally I’m not sure it’s going to make much difference whether you get switched or unstitched - tbh it seems exactly what you need - now to look up what on earth Audiothingies is !
