I do think it’s worth mentioning that the song is clearly about his divorce from his wife (not to mention the restraining order he has for her and her boyfriend). And some nice lyric call backs to the first song from the last album which talked about their relationship in a more positive light.

The life of a rock star! [sarcasm]
I've been reading the few bits of info about his divorce and restraining orders after you posted this. It doesn't cast anybody involved in a good light and I can't help feeling pity for the poor children involved.

Did anyone get tickets for Halifax? Completely passed me by, I'd love to see them again (its been over ten years...)

Not sure I agree with comments regarding them getting worse with age. They've stayed much more consistent and enjoyable than Foos/Pearl Jam etc.

The only band that really released anything brilliant that matched their original output was Soundgarden. King Animal was a brilliant record. RIP!

Second new track - Negative Space. Do yourself a favour and put on some headphones. That bass. Pure sex.

Paper machete is my current fav on this album! Very 'little sister' which is fine by me

  • Album is pretty decent. Era Vulgaris sort of feel for sure. Pretty gutted I missed the Halifax gig, and now they've released an Arena tour and its £80+ for a decent seat. Won't be going as a result; just a crazy price.

Listened to the first half of it and not really feeling it. As always, a lot of noise and not much catching my ear. Thought the lead single was decent but album sounds a bit of a mess. I’ll listen again and see how it grabs me. Disappointed after the Zane Lowe interview but we all know Zane is an arse.

I’ve sold my tickets. The new stuff is awful.

The main thing I’ve noticed is music from the overlooked Era Vulgaris - and the Epiphone cabinet twinned with a WEM head.

I've listened to it a couple of times now and it's not engaging me like their best stuff does. The last track seems to be four different noodles all cobbled together. I normally find a few tracks on an average QOTSA album that are worth listening to but this only seems to have one. That's one more than Era Vulgaris or Villains for me though.

Friend of mine saw them in Halifax. Said they were great. This pink pop gig is good.

Album still not grabbing me. Just seems like lots of noise. Emotion Sickness, Time and Place, and Negative Space are the only ones I go back to.

All the live gigs on YouTube have been great though. Micky Shoes really is a handsome bugger never mind a fantastic bassist and backing vocalist. Swoon!

They were great. Played a lot of my faves. The new songs were a bit pedestrian but they sounded good. They are headlining the other stage at glasto on Sunday apparently
