Welcome to the 24th Poopot's Cover Challenge


The winner of our last challenge, the nameless Muppet, has spoken to me and chosen the track for the letter K

That's right. If that's not your bag, and let's be honest who could blame you for not wanting to try and sing like Freddie, Roger and Brian, then you can record any track starting with the letter K - I know I most definitely will be.

But… if you cover the chosen track you will automatically receive a bonus 5pts as a head start

You may wish to submit artwork to go with your entry. It brightens up the playlist and might subliminally get you more votes but it's not mandatory.

All the best to you Habanero with your op, I'm sure it'll all go well.

Interesting song choice - I like Queen (mostly Brian May and Freddy's writing) but I find their songs are typically quite hard to cover without doing them as a straight cover if that makes sense. That said, when I did High and Dry a few challenges back that was a pretty straight cover and it did well so perhaps that's a good thing for me...

That makes perfect sense.

It's definitely a big challenge but I believe at least live of us can do it

I’ve learnt most of the guitar parts for mine, but struggling to learn the drum part!

Yes, this one came to me as a pretty much fully formed idea and it was just a case of getting it down.  These are quicker than the straight covers I was doing as that involved transcribing the drum parts hit by hit.  These are just EZ Drummer grooves with a bit of tweaking so I can get a framework up much quicker.

I was going for a Sgt Pepper style thing, so a bit Lucy in the Sky, a bit Day in the Life, then the string section for the bridge, backwards guitar solo, those are more general late 60s stuff.  The organ on the verse is a "Lucy" preset but actually reminds me of Cymbaline by Pink Floyd.

The tune wasn't my idea, but I was struggling to find a 'K'. My missus helped with a suggestion, but unfortunately she's a regular Smooth Radio listener.

I’m hoping to, but relearning 28 songs at the moment. 

Might just enter the crap I’ve recorded so far with a few more guitar bits added.
