  • I think it was about $55
It's a risk, works out about £370 shipped, but if you're stung for import and vat, it's going to push into the £500 + range.

    There's a case in hand - that's £85 more than I paid for a new one!

Did you just get lucky with no import charges, or is that the norm for Kingsley imports?

  • I haven't been charged any import and duties on any Kingsley pedal I've bought. Three times, no fees. Delivered in about 5 days, I think

£370 + import, vat and fees is about £460 - £470. Not cheap, but still cheaper than a used one!

Plus...well, I've never paid fees on them. See above

  • Hmmm, I've been patiently waiting about four weeks on a Constable I ordered from Simon at the beginning of August. Am hopeful for a shipment email soon! This thread is a bastion of good intel ... (FWIW, I'm initially planning to run it straight into my PS-2A like in one of the vids.)

If I may resurrect this, can anyone explain to me in words of one syllable what the differences between all these Kingsleys are?  They are seem more or less identical in what they do, unless (as I suspect is the case) I am missing something...

@JerkMoans yep I had a similar thread last week. In essence my understanding is (assuming latest versions of each as of Jan 2024):

    Overdrives:
Page - boggo middle of the road OD (aka the best OD you'll ever play)
Page TS - as above with TMB EQ tonestack and More switch for extra boost
Harlot - Basically a Page with more gain available and More switch
Minstrel - smoother than Harlot, with TMB tonestack
    Jester - AC30-like OD Minstrel with more boost, per @smudge_lad ;
Peasant - simpel booster with impedance control
Serf - even simpler boost, no impedance control

    Preamps:
    Squire - Dumble-sounding simple preamp
Constable - literally a Plexi preamp in a box. Loads of switching for more gain
Juggler - Dumble style preamp in a box with switching for mid boost, more drive etc.
    Herald - AC30 style preamp

    I think that's right...

Thank you!  That makes more sense in one post than I've been able to glean in an afternoon of looking at YouTube review vids.

Yeah it's a bit tricky. I believe this is correct but please anyone else jump in if I've got anything wrong. I'm aware I haven't listed every pedal either...

All I know is the Page is my favourite OD by so far above everything else (and I mean literally everything at this stage...) that it's not even funny. I have a Harlot on order. :)

This time last week Simon quoted 4-5 weeks for everything except the Juggler, which is ~10 months

I wouldn’t say the Jester is an AC-30-like OD. It’s very smooth, well rounded OD and I’d say it’s almost like a higher gain Timmy/transparent OD. It’s based on one of Simon’s own amps.

It’s basically a Minstrel I believe, with an added boost side,

The Harlot gets into spikier/fuzzier gain territory maybe more akin to a cranked AC-30

Hmmm.  Start with a Page?  Or would one immediately want 'more'...?

You will immediately want more…not more gain, more Kingsley’s

This was the video that convinced me to get a Harlot

He has a few Kingsley video’s including the Jester and Minstrel. They all sound insane
