School guitar lessons - recommended book

This book looks familiar to me I think my friends kid had it , I thought it was awful , she wanted to learn stuff to play songs she knew . I ended up teaching her and she did many Jam nights and open mics

I think your main problem with this book is actually technique - the teacher is (I assume) going to give him classical technique. This is great for the left hand but the right hand technique is totally different to most other guitar styles. Particularly if the teacher favours beginning with rest stroke. I have children who started off on this book (with another teacher) and several years in still try and revert to alternating (or sometimes not alternating) rest stroke fingers on electric guitar or steel string. I was able to adapt, but some children find it tough.
