I’m no acoustic aficionado, but I bought this off JimmyGuitar who actually does know his onions, after I played a few Atkin acoustics in shops and was blown away by them.  In turn, this is a remarkable playing and sounding guitar.  I’m selling to fund something else but it’s definitely with a heavy heart.  There’s something about Atkin guitars.

It has some playing marks which are virtually impossible to distinguish from the factory aged relic’ing, which is very nicely done.  Has had a re-fret recently and comes with a Baggs pickup fitted, so good to go and plays wonderfully and sounds even better.  Comes in a sturdy Hiscox case with the Atkin COA.

Atkin describe the OM37 as “the desert island” guitar and I can’t disagree.  Sounds great for everything.

Here’s a link to Jimmy’s original FS thread where you can see more pics and a video of Danish Pete playing it before Jimmy bought it.  Sounds awesome.

An acoustic bump (which is quieter and more soulful).

  • I just want to add that whenever I've gone into a guitar shop of late, Atkin has wiped the floor with the big brands. They are damn good.

  • Really love these Atkins. I remember walking to a music shop years ago (pre COVID) and was impressed by how better they all sounded compared to Martins and Gibsons.

    Quoting the GuitarGuitar website:

(This one however is, a grand cheaper, just refretted and with a Baggs pickup system installed.)

    What we say:

    At A Glance:

This must be in the running for one of the greatest, most playable and most satisfying guitars we've ever encountered! Hand-made in England, the Atkin OM37 Aged is, as you'd expect, an Orchestral Model guitar with a body that's slightly on the smaller side and a playability that is second to none. This gorgeous model is a real all-rounder, though fingerstyle players in particular will take to the note separation and projection offered here. What is there to like? Everything.

    Features We Love:

    Torrefied top

The Sitka Spruce top has been subjected to extreme heat in order to dry out all moisture and nutrients. The result is a sound that has an uncanny resemblance to century-old acoustic guitars!

    The Details

On top of the sensible levels of authentic-looking aged appearance, there are many lovely details to appreciate. Herringbone purfling, aged Nitro finish, ebony board, Mother of Pearl fret markers...this guitar flat out owns it.

    Playing Experience

This wonderful instrument is greater than the sum of its considerable parts. It is a real joy to play: the smaller body and 25.4" scale length combine with the woods and bracing to make this guitar sing out with a voice that impresses and encourages in equal measure.

    Highlights:

    • Fantastic build quality
    • Wonderful looks
    • Superlative sound
    • Amazingly satisfying playing experience.
