Greatest Guitar Riffs series new on tv

Sky Arts channel has a new series called Greatest Guitar Riffs starting this Friday 24th November.

Each episode has a different artist with Tony Iommi, Andy Summers and Nancy Wilson being the first three.

From the title my mind immediately went to the Snooker theme

Andy Summers seems an odd choice- apart from "Message In A Bottle", which of his guitar parts can you really describe as "riffs"?

Don't get me wrong, he's a distinctive stylist whose playing makes pretty much every Police song better, he's just not a riff guy.

Even then, that takes his tally of memorable riffs to a grand total of two.

Admittedly, that's two more than I can claim, but it's nothing compared to Iommi.

I quite agree.  His playing is far too intricate to be described as ‘riffs’.
