  • Yep.

Works a treat, do you have any specific questions?

The Nux Optima air has the option to do so with a mic but I've not used it.

There's a bunch online I found a while back. We matched the exact model and when added onto a live piezo performance video it was so much better.

If you want to audition the possibilities create an IR for guitar and load it into any convolution reverb VST (ie. ReaVerb in Reaper) then put your dry piezo signal through it - don’t forget to listen at 100% mix or thereabouts.

@TheOtherDennis ;;     has made one if not three IIRC
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.

I've used IRs (the 3Sigma ones mainly) quite a lot in my Helix, but have not tried making my own.

Not sure I have a decent enough mic to capture the guitar tone as a starting point.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Nothing at the moment, I was just wondering how popular it was.

I was mulling over the idea of taking my guitar to a local studio, if I can find one with an acoustic friendly mic locker.

  • My most useful IRs have been made with an sm57.

I mic'd my acoustic with a SM58 (grill off) and I had to cut the high frequencies. My room doesn't help, hence my interest in IR. I may give the SM81 a go as it has a flatter response, but I think the IR route will suit me better, i.e. plug in, record, and sort out the sound later.

BTW, do you know if it's possible to use IR for X-Y in true stereo?

Given how awful it has sounded when I've tried to record acoustic guitars, I'll just download some IRs.  @TTony mentioned 3Sigma.  Are there any other good sources?

Here's a FREE stereo widening plugin to try for those who are recording with a single mic.
