Change of title to Deaths?

This is a tributes section isnt it? Perhaps we should, in the light of eg the Kissinger thread and some others, change it to deaths.  I'm not disagreeing with the sentiments regarding him but Tributes is inappropriate.

And I would say most of them are.  We might make a couple of jokes in the tributes threads, and veer off topic a bit, but respectfully so.  There's no need to be completely po-faced.

The Kissinger thread and one or two others are outliers.

I once attempted to make a similar (non smartarse) point a while back.

The point of labelling this 'Tributes' should be to encourage people to follow the maxim "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".

Serious point - it's why I haven't posted anything in the Shane MacGowan thread.

I agree, that's always my mindset and I don't comment on Tributes threads just for the sake of it, if it's someone who meant nothing to me (that sounds a bit more brutal than intended).

But then with someone like Kissinger, or Rolf Harris, you'd expect their death to be acknowledged, even if the comments are overwhelmingly negative.

Do people still die?  I thought we all "passed" or "went over the rainbow bridge", or some suitably modern expression that softens reality.

I'm not keen on scrolling down the home page and seeing the Deaths subforum. I don't need the reminder that I'm getting on a bit.

I THINK IT'S A FAIR POINT (damn caps lock!), although not necessarily worth changing. "deaths' sounds a bit harsh though.

I guess Obituary would be an alternative but it's a bit formal.

Rainbow bridge does seem to be mostly dogs. Oddly enough as I type this I have an ad for a Foxgear Rainbow pedal on the page, hopefully not a reverb that kills pets.

Not an idea I would be in favour of.

Tributes are opinion-based, like much of the rest of the forum.

"Deaths" seems to be more factual. Plus, you can foresee a couple of forumites using it as a wishlist.

When my time comes my wife has said she'll log on to say I've gone but it'll have to wait til after her holiday.

Or should we leave Tributes for positive stuff, and stick the likes of Kissinger, Harris, Glitter, etc. in OT?

What's "it" in that context...?  And what websites?  And who are "they"?

It = the term 'tributes'
Websites = pornographic websites
They = the people referred to in this section who have passed away.
