How to sell Acoustics on tFB?
What's Hot
Sorry. Not very good at looking.
Just been searching tFB Home and FAQ's to find answer to how to sell stuff, specifically on £Acoustic section.
Can someone guide to in right direction please. Did I read once you have to be a member? Or do you just start a thread?
Also, it seems de rigeur to post images of instrument for sale. What's best/easiest way to do this?
Thanks.

Start with the rules (here), to avoid incurring the wrath of @Roland. Rules are pretty straightforward / common sense, but - as Roland will attest - many still fail to follow them
You should, by default, be able to start your own thread in the appropriate section. Include plenty of description, and photos are a must (ie not just de rigeur). The easiest way to post images is to be a subscriber (free uploads), else use one of the hosting sites unless you have your own domain/space.
Take 5mins to look through some existing ads. You'll see some that are clearly better than others. You want to be a better one.
This is what I tell all members the first time they start a For Sale thread:
Forum members prefer to buy from people they know. We get a lot of For Sale posts from people who join purely to sell something. Typically they don’t read the Classified rules about how to post, don’t provide pictures or enough details, don’t answer questions, and a number of them don’t tell the truth. So our members think twice before buying from new members.
You can improve your position by:
1. introducing yourself in the New Members are: https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/categories/new_members
2. posting a detailed description of what you’re selling. Eg. How long you’ve had it. Where you bought it. How you’ve used it. What condition it’s in. Why you’re selling it.
3. posting pictures of the items you want to sell http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/54241/posting-pics-vids-soundclips-how-to. Alternatively you can become a subscriber, and we will host images for you https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/226662/new-subscriptions-get-image-uploads-and-no-ads
4. joining in some of the forum conversations, so that forum members get to know you.
5. reading the Classified rules http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/49022/thefretboard-classifieds-rules-v2-0
You’ve been around a while David, so fellow members know that you’re not a fly-by-night who has come here to fleece them. In your advert you definitely need pictures, preferably with a few showing in the thread. A gallery link is useful if there are a lot of pictures, but being able to see the guitar without having to search for it is important to get a buyer’s attention.
For an acoustic I’d expect to read about the woods used, laminate vs solid, bracing type. Some history is useful: where did you get it, how long have you had it, has it been played regularly, signs of wear etc.
Location is important. If it’s a higher end acoustic then most potential purchasers will want to play it before buying. So you need to say roughly where you are.
You also need to follow up your advert, and respond to any questions or information requests at least once per day.
Good luck with your sale.
