Any forum members had any experience?
Yes I know that there’s one for sale here on the forum but my limited small board only has got space for the vertical version.
Any comment’s positive or not welcome.

Lots of bass but very good. The Distortron is the cheaper version and has variable bass response. Sounds like a Timmy with some midrange balls, to my ears.

I've had the Distortron and it's a great MIAB for those early Marshall sounds. Not sure I'd want the BOR as it doesn't have the variable low end control which I found useful with humbuckers, even on lower settings it was still quite thick.

I've got the double rock. Same thing but a lot more versatile. Bass switches plus a super hard on option. The pedal. Not me.

BoR is a glorious, glorious pedal. The boost side is as equally great as the drive side. Don’t hesitate.

Brilliant pedal, one of the most authentic sounding drive pedals I’ve used

A brilliant pedal. Second only to ZVEX super duper 2 in 1 or SHO.

Isn’t the BOR’s boost side just an SHO?

I'm going to ask for positive comments only in future. This has been a wonderfully affirming thread to check in on.

Let us know how you get on @markj ; I don't think I've ever heard a bad review of this pedal, just some people who ultimately decided it wasn't for them. Worth a shot!

The only thing I would say as a consideration is as others have mentioned if you don't need the boost the Distortron is the same, but cheaper and has a bass cut control (As the BoR is a very bassy pedal)

genuinely never found it bassy! but then I play plinky guitars, and the tone dial is pretty wide-reaching.

I've found this quite amp dependent. On an old JMP 2203, I found mine a bit flubby and hard to rectify through the tome controls. On a Bluesbreaker I found it a glorious thing of wonder, which was a way better solution for good sounds and feel at home volumes than using an attenuator (as well as being less hassle and cheaper). Possibly a bit better suited to lower output/single coil guitars. Worth a try IMO.

It's very dependent on what you are trying to do.

When I was using it into a Fender amp with a strat it was fine. Into a dirty Marshall it got a big flabby without bass cut.

It's really not that bad at all.

I've got a Distortron going spare here if anyone wants it. As others have said, it's the same sound as the BOR, but with control over the bass.

distortron is loads better than the BOR, which is overly bassy. and you can put any old boost you like after OR before it!

I’m afraid the pedal was returned today, it just didn’t seem to suit my amp.
Nice pedal but I can live with out it.
