It’s not really a review though. It’s an uninformed rant. Which includes telling people they should buy instead a vintage Gibson amp that is known to sound trash and be difficult to work on.

All from the premise that YouTubers should be opening up amps, as if they know what they’d be looking at.

I'd rather not. In fact I've stopped YouTube from recommending that neo-liberal's content.

That is how Mesa makes amps, isn't it? Nobody complains about Mesa construction, do they?
Yes - two types of people, generally… repair techs who find them overly complex and difficult to work on (they can be, although on the up side they usually don’t need to be), and people who believe a lot of myths about PCB construction being bad/less reliable/cheap etc compared to “hand wiring”.

In fact, high-quality PCB construction is *better* than hand wiring - more consistent, more durable, more reliable. If it wasn’t then really critical cost-no-object systems like avionics, military and medical equipment would still be hand wired… they aren’t, they’re all PCB.
The mission-critical equipment is frequently checked by specialists, and anything that might be faulty is replaced. Guitar amps are not treated so well.

Using PCBs saves time in third-line repair — the work can be done in the hanger, rather than at a maintenance facility. Besides, PCBs compress a lot of electronics into a small space.

Old, overweight and badly maintained. Unlike my amps which are just old and overweight.
