I'd try putting a little on and rubbing it in to the wood.

The wax stuff not the lighter fluid I mean.

I recently cleaned a couple of my guitars' rosewood fretboards with lighter fluid, then applied Montypresso, glooped on heavily like @NCo did. I left the wax for 48 hours. Once wiped off, the result was (and still is) very nice inasmuch as it feels wonderful to play. It didn't dramatically darken the fretboards - they were reasonably dark to start with tbh - but they were definitely a bit darker. As a conditioning product, it seems good. If you have a very light board that you want much darker, you may be disappointed I guess. I haven't bothered with multiple applications of Montypresso, but I have another guitar to do soon, so I might give that a go, assuming I can cadge our dining room table for long enough.
