I think the BD-2 and the ODR-1 are the only classic circuits in OD-land that I've never ever played through.

I would strongly recommend trying a BD-2 if you haven't. I'm on my second one and it's probably my fav overdrive now.

The ODR-1 I'd say get the bass cut version or one of the variants like the Wampler because while it's good it's got silly amounts of bass which makes it very hard to control.

The first covers band I was in (I was in my 30s - late bloomer) I used a blues driver for everything for a while - it was great 

of course I eventually ended up with 6 different drive pedals to get each song ‘just so’ but I suspect I was the only one who cared or noticed much difference :-)
