Just seen that. I was watching a bit of the current series this week and he does look so ill but still so enthusiastic about everything. He came across as such a likeable man with a love for food, motorbikes, Lancashire and the people he met. Also a terrible dancer, but he knew that.
    Sad news, RIP Dave.

Very sad news and he battled hard.

I note that on their latest TV advert, whilst both are featured, Dave was very much in the background and a soft focus/gauze was used on him.

Their Hairy Rock Show on Planet Rock was very enjoyable, as was the TV work and seemed like a genuinely nice man and they had a wonderful dynamic between them.

    R.I.P

very sad indeed,   have been watching the recent series post battle,  and the one off about his battle.  He was so genuinely please to be biking with his mate Si.................................     very sad.

This one hits hard. I adore the Hairy Bikers and was just watching their latest series yesterday. The twitter post from Si choked me up.

So sad. Seemed like an awesome bloke.

I watched the special where they talked about his battle and you could tell it was serious.

That’s so sad I didn’t know he was ill.
I remember Si battled his cancer a while back.

Very sad news - I'm not into any of the cooking shows one bit - Most are to 'poncy' for me - I can't cook much more than simple stews, pastas, chillies, etc - But I do like to find out how I can make better versions of such dishes - But I found the Hairy Biker Shows far more fun - Their choice of what you cooked/eat was more to my taste - The shows would be interesting without any food - Both came/come across as just great guys with no heirs and graces - You could imagine having a good chat and beer with them - They were household names and stars without ever needing to be come part of the OK/Hello gloss brigade - Wish more people in the world were like these 2 guys

Go and make. a good meal for those in the sky - RIP and thanks for showing us what a great guy/team you were

Always came across as the loveliest of people. I’m quite surprised how upset I am by this news - it feels so unfair that he didn’t make it. RIP Dave.

That one-off special about him getting back to cooking and riding was a really difficult programme to get through. The obvious true friendship between those two guys was touching to say the least.
    Awful news today. Poor chap.

He was wrong about the Scorpions, though. Rubbish band.

It is sad news, and unexpected although he'd clearly been ill for some time.

I have to say I don't like the terms "fight" or "battle" with cancer.  Having lost family members to cancer there was never a "fight" they could win, and they didn't "lose" because they hadn't "fought" well enough or bravely enough.  The situation was out of their hands.

I think it's actually more about learning to live with it, not fighting but making a truce of sorts.  All anyone can do is get the best treatment they can, hope that medical science can "fight" on their behalf, and in the meantime try to get on with their lives and make the most of the (hopefully long) time they have.

Fuck cancer.  And RIP Dave Myers.

Really sad. Knew he was ill but thought it was years he had left because he was back working.

I found some of their banter a bit cringeworthy at times, but there was no hiding the deep affection & friendship that they had for one another.
Plus there was a load of genuine enthusiasm for food & bikes too :+1:   RIP Dave.
