A few years ago I flew to Dublin to collect a guitar I sent to a luthier out there for some work.

I flew Aer Lingus and booked an extra seat for the return journey so I could bring the guitar on board with me.

One of the stewards attempted to do a "you can't bring that on" as I boarded the plane but once I showed him the extra ticket he was fine with it.  Didn't need any special harness or anything, but this was about 2016 so things might have changed since.

Of course, I can't know whether Ryanair are as accommodating.

There is no 'H' in Aych, you know that don't you? ~ Wife

    Bit of trading feedback here.

I have seen airline staff describe a guitar as a potential weapon, and then charge to put it in the hold. I’ve seen other airlines put it in a vertical locker for you, not the overhead. Whatever the airline says you might have to argue with airline staff.

I nearly had a capo confiscated by airport security because they thought it looked like a weapon.
