I'd have to hear it. I was certain it was Mountain's version but happy to be proved wrong.

Just listened to it.  Although a vastly inferior version I have to say I couldn't remember 45+ years later which was used.

It's a synth - Emulator II ("guitar" patch of some sort iirc) through a digital (on the synth) tremolo effect.

One Saturday afternoon in the '80s, me and my little brother were charging around the house singing that A-Team middle section.

My mum, who was a bona fide flower child, was really delighted and impressed - she thought we were singing Cream's Sunshine Of Your Love (they're pretty much interchangeable, especially rhythmically).
