A new Studio Sporky project - our first game

Critiquing in a somewhat professional capacity. I think you've got the design document a bit too fleshed out. Normally that level of detail doesn't appear till ~70% into the project, or shortly after we've completed all the gameplay systems, whichever comes soonest.

Unless you have got a "oh and then we need a tidal wave to obliterate the hub" saved up for later. Then my criticism may not be warranted.

This weekend I will start uploading bits of soundtrack. And writing something suitably skate-punk for the tutorial level.

So should I just be specifying "side-scrolling skateboard metrovainiod" at this stage?

I do like the tidal wave idea, but getting the filing cabinet physics and the wood-panelling textures right is probably a higher priority.

Remove the bolded and you've probably got enough to get green lit from the execs.

Execs don't like detail, they like soundbites and expenses.They employ people like me to do detail.

PS the tidal wave example genuinely did happen but I shall not be naming names.

As you can probably tell from my completely un-jaded input, joy is something I am positively wading in. So unfortunately I'll have to politely decline this time.

* I don't always add this line to the end of a pitch discussion that I want to be as far away as possible from. Honest.

Don't let it put you off though. After all, I am but the minion that that makes your fantastic* ideas come to life. You don't really want to be conversing with the likes of me. Miyamoto never spoke to me, now that I come to think of it.

No apology needed - these ideas are TOO POWERFUL and must be shared for better or worse.

You'll come around when you hear the soundtrack I'm sure.

I wasn't entirely serious about "more frantic", given that it's 183bpm and has double-kick-drum stuff and a wiggly bit in 16th notes...

I'm working on a skatepunk thing for the tutorial level - that's good and ratty at the moment.
