    Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
After much tweaking today I think I got to a happy place with my Barber Gain Changer - the mention above made me go back and try it again.

I've had a few of the other suggestions in the past, including:
    - Wampler Belle - I found both the gain level and presence to be a bit of a knife edge - it would quickly go from not quite enough gain to too much gain, and would either be a bit to brash and harsh or too dark
    - Wampler Tumnus - I have one on my board, but prefer using it either as a clean-ish boost where the mid

Regarding the Timmy - it does a great job of this. However, I'm using mine to add a bit more gain and volume for solos so fancied adding something else for the base tone.

The Kingsley Page has been on my wishlist for a long time. One day...

Thorpy peacekeeper, best OD pedal ever with my princeton, only thing that sounds better is no OD pedal with an attenuator.

Sadly, for your wallet, Adrian just surpassed the PK with the amazing Electric Lightning.

    It's fab.

Errr, isn’t this the territory of the Nobels ODR-1?

Bogner Blue. Tonnes of variable sounds and EQ and can do any level of gain without colouring the tone of the Guitar. It's been on my board for 12 years.

    Currently on my main board:

    Kingsley Page.
    Analogman King of Tone.
    Klon KTR

I also like Thorpy Peacekeeper, Hudson Sidecar, Hudson Broadcast, Emma Stinkbug, Boss Blues Driver, Browne Protein or a good old TS9/TS808, esp the Analogman modded ones.

For low gain I'm currently using a gold Nobels ODR1 for the bridge pickup to add a bit of bass and a RYRA Klone for the neck and middle pups to cut a bit of bass and add mids.

Yep, I'll always hang on to mine because it always works with finicky black- and silverface amps when all my other pedals sound harsh or artificial.

I used the Nobels ODr-1 to record clean guitars for my album last year - just to brighten things up and i think it may be just the ticket.

Would the Boss BP1w also be suitable?
