It's detailed in other threads but I bought one and found it unreliable, bad sounding and not that loud.

@monquixote ...was that the Amp1 or the 44 Magnum?

@steamabacus Yes, I've seen these and they look as if they could be very good and at £199 you're not breaking the bank.  I think they look very cool too...a mixture of modern and retro. For my TLSE/TLLE it could be perfect!
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

I must admit the comments on Amp1 possible reliability and potential service issues, combined with the lack of any glowing reports on its tone, features I don't need, and its cost ( even at used prices) suggest I might be better off with something else.

That little Vox MV50 Clean is looking favourite at the moment.

As soon as I find one to try I'll keep you guys posted. Are these actually out in the stores yet?

I got to play with one at the Bristol Guitar show on Sunday and liked it enough to want one.

I bought a new Amp 1,but chickened & returned it,not because it was unreliable, but i just got cold feet about it being quite new/high tech from a small volume manufacturer,i used to be one myself,so i know & understand the pitfalls as well as the benefits.
But i thought it was a really good sounding amp with plenty of guts in it,i have read a few comments about them not being loud enough or not good enough sounding, actually i know someone who had the same results, but i didn't find this & in terms of a gigging amp,i would have another.
In fact the Bass player in the band, has a lot of live recordings done at a particular gig & i've used 3 or 4 different Amp set ups on these recordings & the Amp1 is easily the best sounding Amp on these recordings.

  • I have a BluGuitar AMP1 and it was my first move away from conventional valve amps for years but it hasn't disappointed at all. It's astonishingly loud for such a small unit and I could easily use it to play gigs with. I put it on my pedalboard so it was just a case of putting the pedalboard on the floor and plugging it into a cabinet and i was good to go. As much as I liked the tones in the AMP1, I later bought an Atomic AmpliFire and used that plugged into the effects return on the AMP1, again getting superb results from this very compact rig. Sadly I'm now just a home player and largely use headphones so if anyone's interested, I'm selling my AMP1. Just let me know if anyone's interested in buying it from me.

  • Played one live in a loud 2 guitar rock band. Sounded great through the V30 2x12 but was gunning the volume. The facility to go direct too is useful. Great bit of kit - fantastic second hand purchase.

Also, don't forget that if using it with a BluGuitar Blubox Cabinet Emulator, you have a very compact set up and don't need a separate load box if using the Blubox with the Amp1.

As to the sound of it, I don't really know and only had a very low volume go of it when it first came out and that wasn't enough to determine its volume or quality of sounds.

    It's an interesting concept, though

Word of warning (it could be an isolated incident): I had one, just within warranty and one of the little (shite) knobs on the side failed.  This was less than six months ago.  Something similar (now out of warranty) has re-occured.  Just consider that repairing these requires a specialist, so I'd not advise buying without warranty re-assurance.  JHS were all in all pretty good to deal with but it still cost me.

  • I've almost puled the trigger on these a few times due to the positivereviews.  I'm glad I've read these comments as it's made me reconsider.

The thing that put me off was the extras that I don't need;  I really want somthing that is a good pedal platform and more reiable than my Fender HRD.
Don't let your mind post toastee - like a lot of my friends did!
