Laura, my jackson has been to a couple of jams. It not everyday you hear/see Pink Floyd played on a jackson...

Are you saying that you've given your Jackson a name, and that name is Laura...?
    correct.
    All my guitars have names.
Apart from the ESP, they are named after girls who've helped me through life.
    For reference
    Ibanez-Charlene
    Jackson-Laura
    Charvel-Sammie
    Strat-Sarah
all remind me of the person they're named after.
ESP- the beast, an ex-colleague commented "thats a beast of a guitar", and it stuck.

Briefly (for an afternoon!), in the mid-90s I had a Gibson Explorer II like this:

I was quite chuffed until I got home and sat on the settee with it. Then I strapped it on and stood in front of the mirror and realised it was not suitable. I took it straight back to the shop and swapped it for a gorgeous 80's Epiphone Casino. Much more me.

Despite oozing "Pub Rock" out of every musical pore I spent a lot of years being convinced I was all about Dave Navarro & Vernon Reid which peaked with me gigging one of the green tartan Yamaha Blues Saraceno sigs when in truth I porbably should have had a Tele/SG..

Most excellent! I strongly believe in using inappropriate guitars. Sometimes you end up with something really unexpectedly brilliant.

I once saw a country player using a Charvel with a Floyd Rose - which looked a bit odd until you heard him do pedal steel impressions with it.

    :)

I recently watched a Johnny Cash gig on telly and the decidedly elderly stetson wearing guitarist sideman was playing something with a Floyd.

  • Great guitar.

Not me in the slightest though.

Bought for a song, played for a few years and finally Ebay'd for a serious profit and bought Shugz's R7 with the money.

I'm not particularly. Don't mind those Ozzy albums, but I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to them. His immediate replacement I am a big fan of.

I used one of these at an open mic night to wind up a friend - it worked!

  • I had one of the first runs of Gothic Gibson Explorers. Completely brilliant it was, despite bone-crushingly hot pickups.

    EDIT: Found a pic.

I like that a lot. Looks stealth!

It was awesome. I had gold hardware on it at one point too, which was great at the time, but probably a little ridiculous in real life (he says, understating things somewhat..)

Er, geeky trivia: Gilmour's black Strat had a Jackson neck for a brief time around the Wall era. So I guess quite a few people heard some Floyd stuff played on a Jackson (neck) then! ;)

Strats hate me. I've tried making friends with them but they just ignore me, call me a dumb string-whacker and always make me sound like a donkey fucking a goat.

wasnt it a Charvel neck? I'm sure it was Charvel. I'll check when i have the black strat book to hand.

Yes and no. There was a Jackson neck first, from '78 to '82, and then that was replaced by a Charvel neck. So we're both right. :)

(At least, that is according to the Gilmourish website. I'm too lazy to go upstairs and double-check with the Black Strat book. )

I'm actually looking for a demo guitar for my new 'V' pickup range ... high output alnico 8 and select ceramic models ... and I was sorta thinking a Warbeast ... but my Mrs recons I'd need the Orc costume to go with it :)
