I think we seem to have arrived at a place where each new series of Later is seen as hum drum.
Only the same as when we (oldies) used to slag off OGWT, but can't get enough of the old recordings now
    ;)

    Couple of my faves ...

    (OK, that's three)

    And this ...

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Solid WOW for Robert Plant & Alison Krauss (and T Bone Brunett)

Actually Seasick Steve's debut was pretty hot, and I loved that.  The lesser known (often last minute) artists (like KT Tunstall) are often the most interesting.

Here's him with John Paul Jones

Jools was asked in an interview HIS favourite performance. He said, one had my jaw on the floor...this was it....

  • Some of these I don't remember at all, although I do have a tendency to record Later or watch it on iPlayer and skip a song if it doesn't grab me in 30 seconds...it possibly also shows how little effort they go to when they do those Later compilations on BBC4, that Radiohead clip must have been on ten different shows.

I saw a really good act in the past 6 months or so but can't remember who? Energetic music and the band leader was a black guy playing a lap steel of some type. Anyone remember?

    Robert Randolph?
Correct. For a guy who HAS to play sitting down he's rather energetic!

The live band does it. Jools never has any metal. Maybe a mastodon show or so but that's it (Metallica haven't been metal for years)

  • The performance I most vividly remember seeing and just being gobsmacked was Radiohead doing Paranoid Android in '97

Can't post YouTube clips from my phone but standout ones for me:

    Jimmy Vaughan. Boom bappa boom.

The Darkness. I believe in a thing called love, with Justin leaping off the piano.

    Radiohead. There there.

Henry Rollins. On the way to the cage.
