SOLD  For sale 1994 PRS Artist Series 2 II. This is an awesome old school, best quality PRS you can get. Old Artist series was made to perfection. Now they call it Private Stock. Got it as part exchange for my 59 LP. The guitar was played and has some small scratches here and there but nothing serious. Great player. 1950£

Is it an 1984 rather than 1994?

I looked up what 'pre factory' means and it's described as a guitar made by PRS before moving to the first factory in '85.

Prs moved to the maryland factory in 1995. They first started up in a different place in 1985.

It's an artist series but like you said @Ionian it's not a pre factory guitar. This one was made in the Virginia Avenue factory before they move to a bigger site in 95. If it was actually pre factory it would go for a shit ton of money.

Cool guitar though it reminds me of Simon McBrides original artist guitar the way it has faded. Have a wow.

Considered pointing out that this isn't a 'pre-factory' guitar last night in a PM but couldn't be bothered as it was late. As everyone has now posted publically - this is a 'pre-factory move' guitar. Not the same thing at all (in value terms).

  • I'm sure this isn't the first time a 'pre-factory move' guitar has innocently been described as 'pre-factory'. The year is clearly stated in the original post, which is not trying to claim that the guitar is something it isn't.

Nice guitar, good luck with the sale. :)

To be honest I think the colour was a lot brighter (maybe vibrant would be w better word) when new. A lot of PRS from around this time faded. The reason I said it reminded me of Simon McBrides original artist guitar is because it was a very different colour to how it looks now.

A lot of the purples faded to a pinky colour. Looking at the back of this guitar it looks like the original finish to me and is a lot darker than the top which probably faded slightly in the sun.

I'm not knocking it by the way I think it looks really cool and the modcat will have the original colour recorded under one of the pickups.

  • Thanks, for me "Yellow Tiger" sounds much better than just yellow. :)

Too early for yellow tiger; @PatrickP you might find this hard to believe but it appears to be a nicely faded Royal Blue. If you lift the neck p'up it'll be written in the cavity.

    *edit* I'm losing my touch...

According to  'The PRS Guitar Book' and an original 1993 flyer Ive got, the Artist ll was only available in Amber,Teal Black,Indigo and Dark Cherry Sunburst. Looking at a color chart flyer from the period I would guess that this Artist was originally Teal Black, but has, as suggested already, faded over the years.

Interestingly the book states that it would have had a Brazillian fingerboard, but the flyer just mentions a  'Select Rosewood board'.

Semi-Hollowbody was an 'option' on these guitars, is this one a semi?

Just my tuppence worth  , GLWTS
