Don't know what it is,maybe the Steel Panther effect, nostalgia,I don't know but I've found myself strangely drawn towards the travesty that is 'Hair Metal'.Never got it at the time.So come on,if there is such a thing, recommend me some good stuff to listen to while I veg around the house for the next few weeks.

Ta.

Motley Crue....best to check out a compilation...Decade of Decadence has all the hits on (and an awful Sex Pistols cover)

I was listening to Mr Big earlier this week, there's some great stuff there," Lean into it" and "Bump Ahead" are the ones to go for.

    Early Van Halen of course.

(plus Skid Row and Poison as mentioned above).

    Awesome stuff!

There are a load of bands that rightly or wrongly get lumped in with the hair metal tag.
Some are glam rock based and others are more metal with a flashy image
There were other bands that predated the Hair metal era but had a lot of success in those years and whose videos got airplay on MTV at the same time...and these bands also might be counted....

But looking through my own album collection
    Cinderella
    Poison
    Great White
    Tesla
    Motley Crue
    Ratt
    Black and Blue
    WASP
    Dokken
    Bon Jovi (early)
    Europe
    Keel
    House Of Lords
    Guiffria
    Y&T
    Night Ranger
    Britney Fox
    Teeze/Rough House
    Gun N Roses
    LA Guns
    Faster Pussycat
    Tigertailz
    Kingdom Come
    Sweet Savage
    Skid Row
    White Lion
    Queensryche
    Crimson Glory
    Fifth Angel
    King Kobra
    Bulletboys
    Badlands
    Warrant

    Also added later:
    Quireboys
    Love Hate
    Lizzy Borden
    Van Halen
    Quiet Riot
    Winger
    Firehouse
    Danger Danger
    Enuff Znuff
    Sven Gali
Freak Of Nature (although they were more grunge with Mike Tramp on Vocals)

Maybe a few good British bands too

    Shy
    Robin George
    Tobruk
    FM
    Blue Blud
    Midnight Blue
    Heavy Pettin
    Thunder
    Siam
    Terraplane
    Little Angels
    Skin
    Jagged Edge

  • I quite like Tesla.

Strangely I find Steel Panther amusing in short doses… it gets tiresome after a while, but Satchel appears to be a pretty darn good player.

Heat and a great many other bands that are current bands probably get left out as they weren't there at the time , although they are the right style of band.

Also Caught In The Act/Guild of Ages
