very loud and good sounding up but treble can be a bit harsh

Ah, There was at least one that had a cap missing. 'It'appen, which meant the amp was flat past 15kHz. If it ever goes into Blackstar's for a service ask for a specc' check.

    Dave.

If you want it to sound at its best, use a closely matched set of EL84s.

Do have any recommendations to what brand of valves work well in these?

TADs are very nice - and are what is fitted by the Blackstar Service Dept.

    Agree with this.

Not the same amp in my instance, I've got a hiwatt.
I found the TAD valves were much brighter than the JJ's that came with my amp.
It's by no means a negative, articulation and everything is great but as a result I use the normal channel only (I used to bridge the bright and normal channel).
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
