What a coincidence. I havent played my J20H for a few months to give my old Cornford Hurricane a workout again...until tonight. Good God the J20 sounds immense! Strat->Dumble-esque overdrive->J20H set very mildly dirty->huge grin!!!!

You will be going from tonal hell (sorry Microcube!) to heaven!!!

  • My recommendation, as a Lazy J 'fan boy', is to have the NON reverb and term option... Pedals can do this superbly these days
I agree with this - crank it dry I say!

  • Good to have reverb though if you don't want to take a board with you ;)

I agree on the verb (though it's the best amp reverb I have) but the trem is delicious (up there with the Swart) and I speak as someone with a Chase Bliss Gravitas

Haha, well with all due respect, I couldn't agree less!! I LOVE the reverb on my lazy J 20 and absolutely need it! It forms an essential part of my bass tone. It's gorgoeus and spacious without being overwhelming... really amazing sounding in my opinion. Gives my vintage princeton reverb a run for it's money!

You can hear how much reverb I like in this video :p ...

    Good luck with the hunt!

    Cheers,
    Alex :)

Carr Sportsman seems to address all so called problems with the Princeton. Great reverb and worth a look at to if you like J20s albeit different sounding :)

I've got one. Truth is I much prefer pedal plate reverbs these days. But proper amp tube trem is hard to beat

it's a '72 PR. Not for sale though, sorry. It's only the reverb I'm not in love with!
