Well, following a successful month of Attic Archeology where I discovered there are people out there who will actually buy any old tat, I found myself with a bit of cash to spend.

Thinking I was only in the market for a New Fender USA standard, 2nd hand les Paul, I was pleasantly surprised to find I could afford a used PRS. Now I traded a 2009 CU22 Artist a couple of years ago and instantly regretted it, so I travelled to Bonny Scotland on Saturday to pick up this little gem...

I apologise, but in Cumbria there is a ban on sunlight so outside pics that would show off the top and paua inlays will not be forthcoming. :-) So, it's a 2008 Custom 22 Artist Pack in blue matteo, ebony board, Dragon II pickups, wide fat neck. It sounds quite nice too. Better than my old Custom 22 Artist, which had the rosewood 'board and a quilt top. I definitely prefer the wide fat neck.

And yes, it's Sted's ex-Chappers' Matchless, which now resides in a lovely 1x12 combo shell with a proper Matchless speaker. These two sounded brilliant together at gig levels on Sunday.

Cheers @Moss, it's actually more greeny blue IRL, can't seem to get the colours through on the phone pics. It's pretty much unmarked. Aside from two of the saddles turning silvery, excellent nick for the year.

Cheers chaps. @Thorpy6, you know that's what really tipped it for me, love the Macassar Ebony, I have it on a PRS PS, and was looking for another ebony boarded one. Love the streaks in it, it really makes the signature inlay pop out.

I am thinking about a set of ebony pickup surrounds and knobs, control knobs. Not other knobs. Those orange things aren't doing it for me.

I can understand that, I wonder where you'll get them from though? As an aside try some 513 black see through knobs, they will suit the guitar better.

Lol, just priced up a pair of ebony pickup rings, backplates, knobs and tuner buttons. That's my petrol costs for the whole month!

Top wis by Raymondo when I was looking at this, his info helped a lot. Also got to give PRS Customer service their due, emailed them with the modcat and serial number and they got back to me the same day and answered everything I asked. Good show!

@RaymondLin You know I think you're right. Rings like the proverbial bell acoustically, plugged in I honestly can say it's got 'something' that my old one didn't have tone-wise, the in-between sounds especially are really nice, and through the Matchless' clean channel it's dreamy

Birds, fancy top, gold hardware - all usually repellents to me - but that works lovely, what a beaut.
