NGD. Warning, bling content

I've not done a NGD post in a while.  Mainly because I've not bought anything in a while.

But I did buy this a couple of weeks ago from our very own Mr @Prudd and I finally managed to get some half-decent pics of it.

I'd been looking for something semi for a little while, and was half-set on just picking up a cheapo Epi 339.  But I put a WTB thread up on the Classifieds just as this one was listed FS.  It was a tiny bit more expensive than the Epi, but then you gets whats you pays for.

Or possibly not in this case, because you get an awful lot of quality guitar for what you pay for a US Hamer ...

Not the first quality guitar that I've picked up from Mr Prudd - thanks again for a painless & pleasurable transaction, and for a ridiculously good guitar.

So, that's me all NGD'd out for the year.

  • I was expecting you to grab that one! Helluva guitar for the price, I never played a bad Hamer.

    :P

To be fair, I was actively looking for something semi.

But you're right, the quality is up there with PRS, IMHO, but for 1/3rd of the price.

It's a shame Fender have decided to discontinue the brand, I hope their models show up somewhere else.

If that's bling, then it's tasteful bling - just a very pretty looking guitar for my money. Lovely thing anyhow! :)

    Well done Tony
I watched that one myself as I love Hamer guitars, but don't really need to buy myself any gitars (although that was a steal for the price)

You ought to get the new-ish Hamer book - it's amazing!

Agreed. I don't really see how that's blingy at all, it's just really nice. Some people act like if it doesn't look like it's been stored in a dumpster for 30 years that it's too blingy, screw that mentality IMO.

Amazing guitar. And staggering value for money.

Therefore, clearly deserving of the double seal of approval:

Yes, true enough.  I've been playing a very unbling PRS recently (solid top, moons), so this actually looks blingy relative to the PRS, and it's not often you can say that.

I tried to capture the real depth and shape of the top in the pics, but I didn't do a good enough job.  It's (even) nicer than it looks.

In my defence, I think I've cleared out 4 guitars (so far) this year, and that's the only one that's come in.  So, pretty successful de-GAS so far.

This is the one that I sold to finance the Hamer.  This was a "keeper", and it's a really, really, good guitar - looks, sound, feel, weight, it's all there.

Its new owner is as happy with it as I was.

But I don't regret selling this and buying the Hamer.  And I say that as a PRS fan.
