A Dep players quick guide to series of vids

What's Hot

I'm doing a series of vids designed for dep players to quickly learn the main gist of a song rather than the whole beginner start to finish hand holding thing. No tab is used although note names are given when needed, anything obvious is omitted, the idea is to be a time saver. So far I've got Dekota, Sex on fire, Superstition, Uptown Funk on the go and here's Mr Brightside. I plan to do all the songs I'm often asked to cover when dep'ing  .... other suggestions for songs would be welcome ? This one goes into a little more detail because of the nature of the song. See what you think

  • Great video mate, I've subscribed.

It'd be nice to see a full play through at the end - but overall I thought it was very well presented! I could certainly pick-up what I needed from the video. It's a good idea for a video series!

Enjoyed that, put a list of the songs you know underneath the video and get people to vote which one they want to learn next .
    I've subscribed as well.

  • Nice one, Danny. It's a great idea. As Panama Jack said, I'd like to see a full run through at the end, or at least intro, verse, chorus, bridge, outro running into each other.

Thanks guys, I'm easing into the video thing and learning. A run through the whole thing would have been a good idea. Will  fix that on next vid. That vid was made in 2nd take no edits, the dog kicked off at the postman in the first take :)

@kin after 30 years of playing in covers bands the list of songs I know is pretty big, like hundreds. The songs I'm concentrating on in this series is the batch of songs currently being trotted out as pub \ club \ wedding classics. If anyone's got a request though just name it

Subscribed :) I think I could learn that from that. Although I don't think I've ever actually heard the song so may not be top of my list!

Brilliant. Someone who shows you how to make the song sound right, rather than trying to impress you with their interpretation

Great idea for a video series - it's a good twist on a lot of the "how to play......"  vids - and I trust you so it wouldn't be the usual waste of time I'd have been quicker just transcribing it the old school way.

    Keep them coming :)

  • Great stuff, Danny!
Maybe you should post your song list and people can choose!
What camera do you use to film, and what video editing software?

    Awesome!  Nice idea, subbed!

PS now I see what you mean about having the E, D, and fretted E ringing simultaneously.  I'd not noticed that before!

When I used to buy guitar mags they would have tabs with every nuance and I didn't know where to start. I like these kind of 'working versions' where it's enough that you could play it on a gig.

Love how you refer to the note names and not fret numbers.
I don't play these songs but if I were to, I'd be referring to these vids!!

Absolutely. A lesson for players not beginners. Makes a nice change.
