That looks superb - somehow I managed to miss this thread until now.  The shape reminds me of the Hagstrom Beluga I always fancied when I was a bassist (but never actually had one because I ended up playing mostly guitar - perhaps one day...)

    Anyway, excellent work @Andyjr1515 !

    Thanks @DartmoorHedgehog ; :)

Single-cut basses are an acquired taste and always look a bit bulky.  However, some are downright ugly...but, certainly to my eyes, I don't reckon this one is ;)

...oh, and it's light.  VERY light for a bass, let alone a single-cut.  7lb 13oz...I was dashed pleased with that  :)>-

I think Les Paul basses look pretty good, but you rarely see one. Actually the rarity is probably why they stand out from the sea of Fenderish shapes (I'm as guilty as anyone there - my bass is a boring one, but it does the job for the few times I actually play bass these days)

Leave it be, the only thing it needs adding is a glass case!

That is an amazing looking bass. Not really my taste but the level of craftsmanship and finish are stunning. Wow!

Oh and to add, I've really enjoyed reading the build thread

    Thanks @the_jaffa

The guy picked it up this morning (all the way from South Wales to Derby!) and (phew!) was thrilled with it.  He brought his rig and took it through its paces so I could do any tweaks he might have wanted while he was here.  It sounded FANTASTIC played well and through a quality cab.

And he didn't want a single thing tweaked!  Not a sausage!

He has promised to do a proper video demoing it.  When he does, I'll post the link :)

    It is!

Most of us go through our working lives where - however spectacularly you might have performed and whatever stunning results delivered - there's always a bollocking from someone, somewhere at the end of it.

This hobby, on the other hand, is one where, in the great majority of cases, the person you are dealing with goes off thoroughly delighted...and if you've got it right, they stay that way.

If it was a job, I'd call that true job satisfaction  :)>-

Now that there bass is a work of art, and that top is sublime!  So much wood yet so light!  I'd dread to think what it must cost for a chunk of wood so lovely :D

It was a king's ransom from memory.  About £150 if I remember correctly....

Yeah that would put the fear of God into me if I were ever to attempt to cut/sand/abuse a piece of wood like that.  One screw up and boom, wasted.

That's the really scary bit of through necks. The wood for this build came to pretty much £350. One bad day with the router... Still, better having the willies scared out of you like this than some other ways, I suppose :))
