^ This. Or swap the stock speaker for a massively efficient Ragin Cajun or similar.

No need to spend anything like that, the Superlux 628 is half the price.

That's what I use, with a Mackie Thump 12, it makes a great, multi purpose independent monitoring setup without spending silly money. I've done my last four gigs with a Champ using this method too.

Hi  could do the following mods.
change the output xformer to deluxe reverb spec.
    similar with the power xformer.
Both of these will increase the power of the amp. similarly 12 or even 15  inch speaker would increase volume.

I have built one and because of increase in supply voltage with this  setup you can go to 6l6s for more power. .

Jackson Ampworks Fullerton, combo or head/cab, the only downside is price and if you get head/cab you HAVE to use the Jackson ampworks cab to get the reverb, so you may as well just get the combo ??? perfect "big" princeton amp.

  • ....Kind of getting away from the Princeton sound though.  A Princeton sounds the way it does because of the 6V6's, small tranny and 10" speaker.  If you mess with the ingredients too much it'll end up sounding like something else.  Probably still very good but not a Princeton.

LOL.....shameless plug!   The Imperial is a truly wonderful amp to be sure, and freaking loud by all accounts.  If I didn't have your old Princeton James, I'd probably have one of those   :)
