    What, dogfish?
No, fish, formulated with a bunch of other stuff, that is nutritionally optimal for dogs.
One thing about pure breed dogs is they can develop food intolerances.
    Bulldogs are known for it.

Most dog food is utter shite- the detritus of the animal (hoof and beak) compacted into pellets.
Most brands are like that, even ones you think are not.

Origen, Taste of the Wild are very good brands- less animal derivatives in there, no low quality fillers (like cellulose- basically wood).
    You pay for it though.

Every dog owner should know this site: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com
There are lots of decent food out there - but you need to look.  Dont get the normal crap from pet stores.  Sadie wont touch dry food, took us a while to find something she likes.  Shes stuck to "Natural instinct" which is a pre-made RAW food.  comes frozen, and just thaw and feed.  She loves the Beef Tripe and the Chicken.  She then gets raw chicken wings, liver/kidney/heart mix, Tuna and scrambled eggs every few days for variation.

Mine is on Nutriment (raw food) now after a few months of swapping dry and canned/packet wet food, wouldn't give him anything else now and it's not that much more expensive (which isn't a consideration to be fair). He get's eggs like yours on the weekend and scraps of veg/peelings if he's with me while I'm cooking.

Sprocket is mostly on a raw diet. She didn't seem able to digest Orijen which is a shame - might just have been that she was a puppy. She looks very happy crunching through a chicken wing or a rack of lamb ribs or a few duck's necks though.

Here's Dot, our two year old English Bull Terrier.

She's almost as slothful as a me, so we make a good pair..

Who can't love a resurrected thread when it's about dogs?

Everyone we know that has tried their dog on raw food has had problems with digestion, so we've stuck ours to dry food and since switching to Wainwrights (which I'm sure isn't the best, but gets good reviews on allaboutdogfood and other sites for not containing too much shite and using actual meat rather than the derivatives), Poppy has been a completely different dog. Very alert and responsive and not overly "springer-y" which is lucky! :D

This is her being all cute, curled up on "her" beanbag.

This is her not impressed with her new harness :D

Then giving them the evils when she realises she'll never climb that high.

  • Here is our dog Marshall, named after the 1962 JTM45 (it is within the first 26 ever made) we found in the attic and sold, which payed for him. He is a 3 year old Bernese Mountain dog cross Border collie.
